Cookie Policy

This policy covers cookies and the other ways PlotMatrix stores small pieces of information in your browser. Most of what we store is not technically a cookie — it is “local storage” — but the rules that matter here, and the way we treat it, are the same either way, so all of it is listed.
Your choice
Analytics is off until you turn it on. Nothing in the analytics table below is loaded, and no analytics cookie is set, unless you accept it. Declining costs you nothing: every part of this site and the app works exactly the same.
You can change your mind at any time, and it is no harder than the first answer was. On this site, use the button below. In the app, it is underPreferences → Privacy. Turning analytics off also deletes the cookies it had set.
Strictly necessary
These make the app work at all — signing in, remembering your choices. They are not used to track you, they are never shared, and because the app cannot function without them they are not something we ask consent for.

Analytics — only if you agree
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and roughly where they arrive from. It is not used for advertising, and we do not sell or share this data.

Inside the app we deliberately send less than Google Analytics would collect on its own. Identifiers for your stories and account are stripped out of the page address before anything is sent, and the query string is never sent at all — so the contents of your work, and any one-time links from an email, stay out of analytics entirely.
Changes to this policy
If the cookies we use change, we will ask again rather than assume your previous answer still applies. An answer given for one set of cookies is not an answer for a different one.
